FRESHLY BAKED

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FROM THE APPLE EVENT

Apple hosted their big product event this week, and we’ve got the quick and dirty. It feels like these things have kinda lost their pizzazz, but we’ll let you be the judge.

The most interesting stuff:

  • USB-C charging is finally here for the iPhone 15 and Airpods Pro 2

  • The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are now built from titanium…. cause the last time we went to Mars, our iPhone just could NOT handle the trip!!

  • They got rid of the mute switch on the side of the iPhone and have turned it into a button which can be customized with different functions like opening the camera or flashlight

  • The iPhone mini and MagSafe external battery pack are now dead

  • The Apple Watch Series 9 is now its first carbon-neutral product. The Apple Watch Series 9 will also come with a brand new chip that should improve processing speed

  • iCloud now has 6TB and 12TB plans, at $30/mo and $60/mo

It’s not much, but we do need a new phone ….. *pulls out wallet* 😒

THE BIG PIZOOKIE

TWEET OF THE WEEK

We’re not so easily impressed but wow - you gotta watch this video.

Forget the captions on Youtube / TikTok. Every creator is gonna be able to translate themselves with AI.

The more AI applications we see, the more it feels like we’re hanging out with the emo kids at school… we can’t decide if it’s edgy or kinda scary.

COOKIE CRUMBS

BITE SIZED HEADLINES

Google’s heading to court in a huge case with the Justice Department involving the company’s search dominance. The government is saying that Google's reducing competition in search by doing things like paying Apple to set it as the default search engine. Google’s saying they just make better products so people choose them. It’s the first major tech antitrust case in decades, so we’ll need to keep an eye on this one…

Remember Clubhouse? Well apparently, it’s still alive! They’re pivoting to audio-only group messaging. Voice notes users, rejoice.

There's been a bunch of drama at Flexport. Their CEO was ousted after only a year into the role, and ex-CEO/founder Ryan Petersen came back to the helm and immediately started cleaning up house. They're now rescinding offers and telling employees to expect cost cuts *cough* layoffs *cough*.

TikTok’s Shop tab is officially available in the US, and it’s mostly cheaper goods from China. They’re offering a bunch of in app promotions right now to juice sales, so go get that set of marble coasters while it’s hot.

CHOCOLATE CHIPS

OUR FAVORITE FINDS

  • How to help people achieve more: you can raise the aspirations of other people significantly, simply by suggesting that they do something better or more ambitious than what they might have in mind. The best part? It costs you nothing. Such a great thought when you’re around friends, siblings, and colleagues.

  • Pretty great career advice from Sahil Bloom. A few interesting ones:

    • Do the "old fashioned" things well. Be on time, have a confident handshake, hold the door. The classics.

    • If you want to accomplish anything meaningful, you have to start by working hard. Build a reputation for hard work—take pride in it. Then you can start to build leverage to work smart. When you’re starting out, you shouldn’t be focused on leverage. You should be focused on creating value anywhere and everywhere. Hard now, smart later. Earn your leverage.

  • A fun one for 90’s kids:go back and time and watch what was actually on TV.
